Racine Shutout Streak Still Alive

Aube Racine has yet to concede a goal in 2017! It was a complete effort from the entire team, from defence blocking shots to forwards batting in the corners. The Isles beat St Laurent for the second time this year on a late power play goal in the dying minutes of the game. The goal from Juliana Classen was her 10th on the year with assists from Julia D’Alleva and Sara Levesque.

Pollender Shoots the Lights Out Against Vieux Montreal

Annie Pollender had a career high 34 points as the Isles basketball team had a huge come from behind win on Sunday afternoon, 55-46. After being down as many as 15 points in the first quarter the ladies showed resilience as they chipped away at the Spartiates lead. Isles took the lead early in the fourth as Pollender had 12 points in the final frame. The defence also held strong limiting Vieux Montreal to only 17 second half points.

On Friday night in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu the Isles suffered their second loss of the year by the score of 62-59. The Isles again were down 23 in the first quarter, but fought back to keep the game close. The Geants sealed the victory with a basket in the last minute. Kelly Corsi led Abbott with 14 points while Darnelle Noel chipped in with 13 points and Alexis Maniatis had 10.

Men’s Basketball Lose a Chippy Game to Vanier      

In a very physical game that saw 5 technical fouls, 2 players fouling out, the Isles lost 78-71 to the Vanier Cheetahs. Vanier went on a 10-0 runat the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. Justin Owen-Renwick had a game high 23 points followed by Dylan Cruickshank with 18 and Jordan Thornhill with 14.

Women’s Volleyball on the Right Track for a Playoff Run

The Lady Islanders started their 2nd half of the season needing to finish atop the section to move up and keep their Regional hopes alive. Despite the difficulties on Serve Receive, the Lady Islanders fought hard all day to grind out some much needed wins to finish in first place on the day! With Maxime Simoneau not able to play as much as she would have liked due to injury (25 kills, 5 aces, 42% kill percentage) and Libero Melissa Haber also injuring herself late in the day (28 digs), the Lady Islanders were led by 2nd year player Charlotte Dansereau (10 aces, 5 kills) playing some very intelligent play and first year players Natasha Fracassi (17 kills, 36% kill percentage, 6 aces, 6 stuff blocks, 5 digs) and Sophia Bouchard (25 digs, 4 aces, 15 kills, 43% kill percentage) to finish the day with an overall 4-0 record in head to head play!

The elevated play of Fracassi and Bouchard helped breathe life into the Lady Islanders playoff hopes.

They move to Section B to continue on their quest for the Regionals!
