Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Québec –Septembre 1, 2017 – HEMA-QUÉBEC will be holding a BLOOD DONOR clinic at John Abbott on Tuesday, September 12 and Wednesday, September 13. The clinic will run from 9:00 – 4:00 in the Casgrain building (Agora).

Everyone is welcome from both the internal and external communities. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Every pint donated can save a life!

Please enjoy a good meal before donating.

Did you know that to meet the needs of the population of Québec, Héma-Québec must collect 1,000 donations per day and that blood is an irreplaceable resource? In fact, every 80 seconds, someone in Québec needs blood. As a result, maintaining the collective blood supply depends on the generosity of those who feel compelled to share in the wealth of their health.

Despite the 60% probability of someone needing to receive a blood transfusion and despite the fact that one can give blood every 56 days as an act of solidarity to those in need, ONLY 3% of Québecers who qualify to give blood do so.

The body quickly replenishes the quantity of blood donated, which amounts to a little less than half a litre (450ml). The blood donation itself takes ten minutes and the entire process takes about one hour.

Dates: September 12-13
Times: 9am-4pm (both days)
Location: Agora 9 (Casgrain building)
Objective: 136 on the 12, 160 on the 13.
Last year’s total: 263 donors
