You were a student at John Abbott College on March 13, 2020 and are experiencing financial difficulties due to the pandemic?
You are not eligible for any other type of government assistance?
You need financial assistance to complete your session remotely?
The Emergency Fund can help you through this crisis.
The John Abbott College Foundation as well as John Abbott College have implemented this temporary funding to help our student community.
A committee that will meet three times a week will make the decision on eligibility for these emergency funds. The decision will be made based on the following criteria:
- A student who has lost his or her job as a result of COVID-19 and no longer has a source of funding (letter of dismissal) and who does not have access to the Québec Bursaries and Loans program or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will be considered to be in a situation of critical urgency.
- A student who retains their job but whose salary was reduced because of COVID-19, who is no longer able to meet their financial obligations, who does not have access to the Québec Bursaries and Loans program or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will be considered in a medium priority.
- A student who has lost their job, had their salary reduced but has access to the various programs (Québec Bursaries and Loans program or the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), Employment Insurance) will be considered in a low priority minimum situation.
Depending on the amount available in the Emergency Fund, the decision will be made according to the above criteria. The decision may be a gift or a loan depending on the student’s situation.
