CAREER PERSPECTIVES

The graduates of this program will find employment in both small-size and mid-size business as well in larger enterprises.  Typically, they will have one of the following job titles as they start work: Web Developer - Web Programming - Web Application Developer - GUI Designer - Web Designer.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

This new certificate program in Internet Programming & Development (IPD) encompasses the major frameworks and software architectures on the Internet today.  Course work will provide comprehensive training to professionals working on e-commerce, enterprise applications, and interactive Web sites.

Courses will cover the major server frameworks and associated development environments such as Sun Java Enterprise Edition, Microsoft .NET, and open source platforms.  They will also include the client side technologies that are part of Web 2.0  The course work will consist of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, Visual Studio .NET (Visual Basic and C#), ASP.NET, JSP, XML and web server management.   Students can learn basic Internet programming languages, server development and Rich Internet Applications (RIA).

Students will learn the tools needed to successfully review, analyze and modify both client/server and Web environments programming systems.  Students become familiar with the methods employed to encode, test and debug documenting systems.

PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS      

  • Secondary V diploma or equivalent diploma
  • Knowledge of computer fundamentals
  • Experience with the Internet
  • Successfully passed the ‘logic and problem’ solving aptitude and computer application tests
  • Interview by the admission committee to evaluate the match between the candidates’ learning and career goals and the teaching objectives of the program
  • Working knowledge of French an asset
  • Fulfil A.E.C. program admission requirements
  • Be referred by Emploi-Québec
