Web Technology Program - A.E.C. NWE.1P

CAREER PERSPECTIVES

This A.E.C. (Attestation d'études collégiales) program graduate will be able to apply for a job as a Web Master assistant with job responsibilities involving design creation and Web site maintenance. Graduates may also assist Internet users with research and developing applications with the Internet. Job opportunities exist with small, medium and large corporations.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

The program’s objective is to teach entry level competencies necessary for effective application of Web Technology in a business environment. The program emphasizes the technologies necessary for effective Web page design, formatting and programming. Upon successful completion of the program students will be able to:

  • Install and configure a Web server for electronic commerce and/or information dissemination.
  • Apply creative designs to a Web page and Web site using Photoshop and Flash.
  • Apply Web formatting and programming using HTML, JavaScript, PHP and CGI.
  • Utilize databases for a Web application.

PROGRAM COMPETENCIES

  • Utilize Internet services and the World Wide Web in a proficient manner in a business environment.
  • Utilize an operating system in a business environment.
  • Install and configure a Web server.
  • Apply creative graphic designs and images to Web pages.
  • Apply Web page formatting and programming.

  • Integrate databases into a business Web site.

PROGRAM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS      
  • Secondary V diploma or equivalent diploma
  • Knowledge of word processing
  • Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals
  • Experience with the Internet
  • Keyboarding/typing an asset
  • Successfully passed the ‘logic and problem’ solving aptitude and computer application tests
  • Interview by the admission committee to evaluate the match between the candidates’ learning and career goals and the teaching objectives of the program
  • Working knowledge of French an asset

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (including 1 hour lunch break)

PROGRAM FUNDING


  • This is a Tuition Fee free program funded by
    'Le Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport'

OTHER FEES:

  • Testing fee: $75
  • Application fee: $30
  • Registration fee: $87 per semester (3 semesters)
  • Books:  $800 - $1000
