VOLLEYBALL is my life!!!

    Rogerald Solmerano – Assistant Coach

As a former Islander, Roger was eager to join Abbott’s coaching staff in 2008 when the men’s volleyball program restarted.  In their first year back in the league, they made their mark by qualifying for the provincial championships, finishing in the top 4 out of the 13 teams in their region.  He has also been coaching with Sunil every summer since 2009 for the Lac St-Louis 17 and under team.

Roger started playing volleyball as a power hitter at Loyola High School.  As an Islander from 2000-2002, he adopted the newly-created Libero position as a defensive specialist and earned 1 regular season championship banner, 2 regional silver medals and 1 provincial bronze medal with Abbott.  During his rookie year, he was also the setter for the Juvenile AAA Redmen team.  Since then, he has played in beach volleyball leagues/circuits and continues to play in recreational and competitive indoor leagues.
