    Harley Lawrence - Head Coach

 

A graduate of Bishop’s University, Harley has been a very successful coach at all levels for the past 25 years.  After gaining experience as an assistant coach with Champlain College, Lennoxville (1982), Bishop’s University (1983) and with Dawson College AA and AAA men’s teams, he became the Head Coach of the Dawson Community juvenile boy’s team in 1986 and the Montreal Chinese Community team in 1987 & 1988.

 

He was the head coach of the Heritage College women’s AA team in Hull from 1991 to 1994 before taking over as head coach of the Dawson College women’s AAA team from 1995 to 1999. 

               

More recently he has been coaching at YMCA / Page, juvenile AAA women’s team and with Westwood High School in Hudson.  In the two years that he coached at YMCA / Page 12 out of 15 players advanced to play CAGEP AAA and the 13th player played CEGEP AA.  

               

He is a former player at Dawson College and was captain of the CCAA national championship team in 1978.  He has been a counselor and a clinician at numerous camps in both Canada and eastern United States.

               

He and his family, wife Sally, and daughters Stephanie and Emily live in Rigaud.  Stephanie has just recently graduated from John Abbott in Liberal Arts and will attend the University of Massachusetts on a full ride scholarship starting this summer.

     Peter Chang - Assistant Coach

 

A (Commerce) graduate of Acadia University of Nova Scotia who played JV ball under the renowned coach Stu Aberdeen.

His coaching started at École Secondaire Félix Leclerc in Point Claire in 2002 and for a number of years he was involved in coaching the West Island Lakers Basketball Association’s (WILBA) Midget boys & Midget girls teams.  In 2004 his Senior Girls Team won the House League championship and he also won the Inter-City Juvenile-AA girls team championship for WILBA in 2006.

For the past three years he was the Head Coach of ECS’ Midget girls team of Westmont and won the Montreal Independent Schools Tournament championship in 2010.

He is also the Director of Training & Development & Head Coach of Montreal Mynix Athletic Club (MMAC) which is affiliated with the North American Chinese Basketball Association (www.nacbait.com) based in New York.  In its annual tournament his MMAC women’s team had won 2nd place in the Liberty Division in Boston in 2006 & repeated for 2nd place in Philadelphia in 2008. The team finally won Gold at the 30th NACBA in Toronto in 2010.  This year he coached MMAC’s men’s team and won Silver at the 31st NACBA tournament in Boston, May 2011.

He is entering his 4th year with Head Coach Harley Lawrence.

   Jaime Guy – Assistant Coach

 

Jaime is a welcome addition to the Harley Lawrence coaching staff this season.  She is a graduate of the University of Windsor with an Honors Human Kinetics Degree and a Bachelor of Education.  She coached 2 Ontario Basketball Association teams before moving back to Montreal in 2002. She has coached the Midget AAA girl’s team at Brookwood for the past 5 years, winning 2 Provincial Titles and 2 League Championships.  She has been teaching at Macdonald High School for the last 4 years and also runs the Athletics Department at Mac.  A resident of Dollard, she also works at the Brookwood Summer Basketball Camp every year and is a former player at Riverdale High School, Brookwood and Vanier College.
