HANK BINNING IS NEW HOCKEY COACH
The Athletic Director is pleased to announce the hiring of Henry “Hank” Binning as the new Lady Islander hockey Head Coach. He replaces Bill Campbell who announced his departure from the program in July.
Hank is a proud father of three children, Cory (age 23), Jaime (18) and Tara (15). One is currently attending university; one is at John Abbott, and one still in high school. All three are active in sports and they have also done some coaching as well. This could only be possible by the support of a loving and a very understanding wife, Gail, of nearly 24 years.
An assistant the past two season with the Lady Islanders, Hank has a wealth of experience and has been involved in girl’s sports for more than 14 years, which includes soccer, baseball, softball, ringuette and hockey and he has coached and organized sports and different teams for 23 years. He has held coaching certificates in ringuette, soccer and hockey.
He has held several positions within the Lac St Louis region including Director of Hockey Feminine in La Presqu’ile (now Trois Lacs) for 6 years. He was also the first Director of Hockey feminine in the region of Lac St Louis. While in that position for three years it gave him the opportunity to help establish the Elites and Selects program which later became AA within the Hockey Quebec Federation.
He has also coached two Jeux du Quebec teams, one to a silver medal, and has also coached two provincial championship teams which included a Dodge Cup Peewee AA Championship. He also ran summer hockey programs for six years and coached the Montreal Metro AAA summer team for a number of years.
He has had great success, coaching several of his teams to provincial and regional championships including 15 plus tournament championships, and at the same time has lost many finals over the years as well.
