HOW & WHY TO USE THIS SITE

The International Programs Office site provides complementary information pertaining to students both arriving to and departing from John Abbott College. Suggested reading lists are provided, and parents may also find these resources useful. Students are encouraged to share resources, stay informed and ask questions.

Students are invited to review this site in conjunction with the College website. An easy way to discover College resources is to perform a keyword search in John Abbott A to Z. This alphabetical search is listed under the Student Services menu from the Student Zone Section of the College’s home page. From a self-directed visit to key pages, students access information about courses and programs; read events in the “Daily Info” bulletin; consult books and articles within the library holdings; arrange cost-saving purchases of second hand textbooks; and, access health and legal resources.

For Quebec students, IPO’s site provides useful links to Internet resources on foreign work, study and travel opportunities. There is also concise pre-departure information. Quebec students bound for international study have a range of funding opportunities. Links to a number of scholarships and awards that domestic students can consider are given. Additional information about domestic and international funding sources is available at John Abbott’s University and Career Information Centre, where it is best to set up an appointment and speak with a resource person.

For International students, IPO’s site provides a simplified, step-by-step explanation of the College application process, right through to payment of fees, acceptance and registration. This includes how to acquire study, work and entry visas, as well as medical documentation.

Student Services offices are all located along John Abbott’s “Main Street”; on the ground floors of the administrative buildings - Casgrain Centre, Herzberg Building and Stewart Hall. The Admissions Office is located in the Registrar’s Office in the Herzberg Building.

Consider becoming familiar with the campus in advance of arriving. Campus maps are available and there are free guided tours offered in the fall semester as part of student orientation.
